Mental health and fitness are intrinsically linked--what is good for the body is good for the mind! Physical activity has many well
established mental and emotional health benefits including:
People often think they have to develop a whole fitness program to reap the benefits of regular exercise, but the good news is that even with small amounts of physical activity you can see improvements in the areas listed above. No matter your age or fitness level, exercising is a powerful tool to help you stay mentally fit!
Our Family Fitness options are expanding this Fall and some of our new programs include:
Creative Calisthenics on Mondays from 4:30 - 5:30PM
A non-traditional fitness class for children ages 7-14 that will challenge them both mentally & physically while helping them develop coping strategies.
Babysitter's Club on Mondays from 6:30 - 8PM
A training course for kids ages 11-16 focused on essential skills &
knowledgeable child care.
Imagination Yoga on Thursdays from 4:45 - 5:30PM
A class for children ages 2-6 to engage in sensory play
Purposeful Play on Saturdays 8:30 - 9:30AM
Sessions designed to help kids enhance their communication skills while allowing parents to pursue their own fitness goals.

Say hello to Janis Atkinson! You may know this petite dynamo through the variety of fitness classes she teaches including Aqua Blast and Barre HIIT.
Hailing from the Lake Placid area, Janis founded the FAST Swim program at RF and continues to build and manage it as our Swim Director.
Body awareness combined with functional fitness and having fun are the founding mantras of her fitness philosophy. You can often see Janis laughing and splashing in our pool with children of all ages teaching the FAST Swim program which empowers individuals to believe in themselves while building confidence and skills in the water.
As a mother of six, Janis imbues our swim program and the classes she teaches with a supportive and nurturing sense of community and is one of many reasons why Royal Fitness is more than just a gym!

KIDS SWIM CLINIC

ADULT SWIM CLINIC

I’ve been at Royal for four years. I signed up when my youngest started school.

I love the staff--the trainers are great! The class are amazing and the atmosphere is friendly.

In the mornings but nights & weekends starting in September.

Does your family use Royal Fitness and if so in what

Both my boys come to the gym. My oldest has taken Tim’s Sports Performance classes and I just started bringing my middle son. My mom is also a member-- you’ll find her playing Pickleball or taking a Body Sculpt or yoga class.

One of our Fitness Director’s favorite machines is the Ski Erg, a vertical version of the rowing erg that many of you already use. Located on the weight room floor, the ski erg is a great way to get some cardio and a total body workout at the same time. You can perform a variety of exercises that you would traditionally do with weights such as lunges, squats, and pull downs. Make sure to ask any of our trainers how to incorporate this machine into your workout routine!
Look out for the new Fall Class Schedule coming September 18th! Sports Performance will now only be held on Sundays.
